In terms of industry , full-time employees in the financial and ICT industries had the highest basic monthly wage at RM5,400 – RM5,700 , which was 80 % more than the national average . This is followed by the professional , scientific and technical activities industry , which offered an average basic wage of RM4,400 .
Full and part-time employees in medium establishments had the highest average basic monthly wage , at RM3,300 and RM1,500 respectively . Basic wage of the full-time employees working in medium establishments was about 10 % higher than those working in large and small establishments .
Meanwhile , across the regions , full-time employees in the Central region earned the highest basic wage ( 33 % more than the national average ), while those in East Malaysia earned about 28 % lower than the national average .
