4.1.2 Malaysian Employees: Wages and Benefits 4.1.2.1 Basic Monthly Wage Overall, slightly more than half of all full-time Malaysian employees had an average basic monthly wage of less than RM2,000. Full-time male employees earned on average 23% more than female employees, while part-time male employees earned 40% more than females. Differences in the basic wage of males and females are dependent on several factors including the type of jobs performed. Average basic wage for those in the semi-skilled and low-skilled jobs ranged from RM1,200 – RM2,000. Male employees had higher average basic wage than female employees across all the job categories, except for clerical support workers. Full-time male managers, professionals and associate professionals earned around 25% higher than their female counterparts.
