3.3.7.1 Total Labour Cost Comparison: Malaysian and Non-Malaysian Employees
by Selected Job Categories
Further analysis by job category was done to assess the labour cost between Malaysian and non-
Malaysian employees to ensure a more accurate comparison. For example, expatriate / PR
employees were mostly concentrated in the top two categories (75% worked as managers and
professionals), hence the cost comparison between Malaysians and expatriates / PR was based
on these two job categories. Similarly, cost comparison with foreign workers was focused on the
bottom two job categories (plant and machine operators / assemblers and elementary
occupations), where majority of the foreign workers (80%) were employed as.
