Figure 3-12: Average monthly cash allowance per full-time employee 3.3.3 Commission 15% of the establishments surveyed paid commission to their full-time Malaysian employees, which amounted to 14% of the total other monthly cash payments (cash allowance, commission and OT payment) to these employees. The average commission paid was RM1,200 per month. Managers and associate professionals received the highest average commission of about RM2,500 per month. 10% and 6% of the employers with expatriate / PR employees and foreign workers respectively paid commission to these employees. Average monthly commission for expatriates/PR was around one-third of their average basic wage. Those who received monthly commission were mostly in managerial and professional job categories who worked in wholesale, retail trade, professional, scientific and technical activities industries. On the other hand, commission for foreign workers was minimal (less than 1% of the total other monthly cash payments made to these workers). Note: The calculation for the above average commission per employee is based on the assumption that all full-time employees in the establishments which offered the commission received the payment.
