3.1 Employers ’ Profile
A total of 685 establishments were covered in this research . 60 % of the respondents were from the Central region ( Selangor , Kuala Lumpur , Putrajaya ) and East Malaysia . Overall , this is similar to the sample distribution although there is an under-representation of the Central region .
At the industry level based on MSIC 1-digit classification , half of these surveyed employers were in the manufacturing , construction , wholesale and retail trade , transportation and storage , ICT , as well as professional , scientific and technical activities industries .
In the Central region , 30 % of the total respondents were from the ICT , professional , scientific and technical activities industries . In the Northern region , around 35 % of the establishments were from manufacturing and construction , while manufacturing , agriculture , forestry and fishing represented around 30 % of the total respondents in the Southern region .
