They have many great memories, as they have enjoyed every minute as Club members. Clarke was friends with many I&A Club members as early as Lavere and Theresa Marinucci the 1970’s when he was bowling teammates at Seaway Lanes in the 70’s and early 80’s, years before he stepped into the I&A Club. You see, back then he was dedicating much time coaching in the Midget League Football and Wickliffe Baseball League with his children. Clarke married Donna Marinucci in 1962. Their marriage resulted in five children destined to enjoy sports and activities in the Club. They are Clarke, Jr., Cathleen, Christopher, Carla and Charles. All their children’s first names start with a “C” and all their initials being “CJB”. Christopher is an active member of the Club, serving as treasurer over the past few years. His wife is Nancy and they have a daughter, Elizabeth. Donna’s Italian heritage goes back to her great grandparents of Sicily. Her great grandfather was Salvatore Marrone. He married Giovanni Occhipinti. They lived in SantAgeta di Militello, Sicily and had six children: Rose, Julia, Jennie, Josephine, Mary and Louis. They came to the U.S. around 1900 and settled in Cleveland’s “Little Italy” on 120th St. In 1910, two young men, Antonio and Guiseppe Provenzale came to the U.S. from Sicily and married two of the Marrone daughters. Antonio married Rose. Joe mar- Joseph and Ellenor Brassell ried Julia. They lived in a double house in Little Italy on 125th St. Rose and Antonio had five children: Theresa, Tony, Jean, Joe and Sammy. Theresa married Lavere Marinucci. Theresa is Donna’s mother. Their children were Rosetta, Donna and Michael. Clarke’s relatives originated from Ireland. His great-great grandfather was Robert Brassell. He married Margaret Keefe. In 1865 his grandfather, Joseph, married Elizabeth. Their son, Joseph married Ellenor Clarke. Ellenor is Clarke’s mother. Clarke was an only child, but because of many similar first names in the family they named him Clarke after his mother’s maiden name. When married, Clarke and Donna lived in East Cleveland. Clarke and Donna Brassell 44 Add new logo Clarke worked at Krogers. They later moved to Wickliffe in 1970 and lived on Weber. Clarke then managed an A&P grocery store. In 1973, Clarke joined an All State insurance agency. He later opened his own business, Brassell Insurance in Wickliffe in 1984. Still friends with many Club members, including Don Trimboli, Gino Latessa, Tom Tripepi, Mike Bellisimo, Joe Carroscia, and Elmo
