les Borgia et leur temps

Le musée Maillol met à l’honneur l’une des
familles à la réputation la plus controversée
d’Italie et qui a fasciné nombre d’écrivains
au cours des siècles : le clan Bo rgia.
Au travers d’œuvres des plus grands artistes tels que Giovanni Bellini, Della Robbia,
Michel-Ange, Raphael, le Titien et Leonard
de Vinci, cette exposition inédite lève le voile
sur la personnalité du Pape Alexandre VI,
décrit comme un homme brillant mais redoutable, débauché et corrompu ; ainsi que
ses deux enfants, la mystérieuse Lucrèce,
mécène des plus grands artistes et César,
stratège hors pair qui inspira Nicolas Machiavel pour son célèbre ouvrage Le Prince.

From September 17th 2014 to February 15th
2015, the Maillol museum in Paris celebrates a
family that has one of the most controversial reputations in Italy and has fascinated
numerous writers for centuries : the Borgia.
Through the works of major artists such as
Giovanni Bellini, Della Robbia, Michelangelo,
Raphaello, Titian et Leonardo da Vinci, this
