Le musée Martin-Gropius-Bau de Berlin accueille la plus importante exposition monographique au monde
de l’artiste engagé Ai Weiwei. Essentiellement composée de photographies et de vidéos, l’œuvre intitulée en
anglais « evidence » témoigne et dénonce le régime chinois qui tente par tous les moyens de museler l’artiste. Parmi les œuvres et installations exposées au Martin-Gropius-Bau, les visiteurs peuvent contempler
une interprétation du terrible séisme au Sichuan qui causa la mort de 80 000 personnes et une reconstitution
grandeur nature de la cellule dans laquelle Ai Weiwei fut emprisonné en 2011. Ai Weiwei transforme les conflits
politiques, les répressions et les catastrophes naturelles en œuvre d’art résolument engagée. La chaine Arte
lui consacre par ailleurs un documentaire « Ai Weiwei – Evidence » qui revient sur cette exposition exceptionnelle à Berlin. I Ai Weiwei, Evidence. From April 3rd to July 7th 2014, the Martin-Gropius-Bau museum in
Berlin hosts the world’s most important monographic exhibition by the Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei.
The project entitled « Evidence », which mainly includes photographs and videos, condemns the Chinese
regime that tries by all possible means to muzzle the artist. Among the works and installations exhibited at the
Martin-Gropius-Bau, the visitors can contemplate an interpretation of the terrible earthquake that hit Sichuan
province and caused the death of 80 000 people, as well as a full sized replica of the cell where Ai Weiwei was
imprisoned in 2011. Ai Weiwei transforms the political conflicts, the repressions and the natural disasters into
a firmly committed piece of art. In addition, the Arte channel presents a documentary « Ai Weiwei – Evidence »
about this exceptional exhibition in Berlin. I
