ART vs. BUSINESS

We are all passionate about
dance. We’re ready to give up our
sleep, time, relationships, money,
other opportunities and so much
more, just to feel that perfect
moment, when our bodies, minds,
and spirits are in perfect harmony
with the music, when we flow
effortlessly through space and
when all those countless hours in
the dance studio, all those
sacrifices we made, have finally
paid off. When we can do no
wrong; that moment of pure joy.
It’s a dream that every dancer
possesses. It’s pure and larger
than life. However, on the way to
achieving this dream we have to,
somehow, sustain ourselves. Here
are my thoughts on how to
maintain that elusive balance
between being an artist with
integrity and soul and at the same
time being able to sustain yourself
financially without selling out.
