On the other side – the east coast, Taormina dominates the island. It is a very small and old city with an extraordinary seaside landscape and a famous ancient theatre built by the Greeks where concerts are often played. Ragusa, on the south coast, is a UNESCO sites and famous because of its historic part - Ragusa Ibla, where San Giorgio's Cathedral is located. It is also known for the beautiful beaches in the small towns nearby; for example Marina di Ragusa, whose crystal clear water and lively nightlife are the main tourist attractions.

Other tourist destinations include the river Alcantara and its park - where tourists can relax and sunbathe, the Volcano Etna - the tallest active volcano in Europe which offers routes for tourists to go climbing, and the Valle dei Templi in Agrigento - spectacular ancient Greek temples regarded as national monuments in Italy.
