Coláiste Chill Mhantáin
This eye-catching sculpture now frames the main entrance into
our school. This impressive sculpture which was installed in
October gleaned its inspiration from our school crest and the
maritime links of Wicklow. The notion of the sculpture erupting
from the ground symbolises energy and rejuvenation. The
sculpture allows members of our school community to interact
with the piece by walking through it, touching it and passing it.
This interaction with the sculpture echoes the sense of journey
and passage that the students are going through.
During the construction of the sculpture, which is made of
bronze, a group of Second Year students carefully monitored
and tutored by Transition Year students designed a relief
pattern in plaster which was transferred onto the surface of the
sculpture. The students worked in close tandem with Maree
Hensey and Mark Ryan, two professional sculpting artists who
oversaw the project and sculpted the final piece.
The Board of Management would like to thank everyone
involved in this process and they are delighted with the finished
product and its impact on the landscape of the school.
Athy College
Athy College has just completed the installation of its
outdoor gym. This will add greatly to the facilities on the
college campus available to students, teachers and parents.
The gym will also be made available to the general public
and even local sporting clubs have expressed their interest in
it. The gym should be available for use from the beginning of
February.

Over ninety Scoil Chonglais supporters travelled
up to Donnybrook in Dublin to watch the close,

final. An incredibly tight match finished with Scoil
Chonglais the victors beating Ardee 30-20.
