We worked on role based Competency framework, 360 degree assessment,
Succession planning, Stellar Performance Bonus, Employee retention
strategies across roles, Progression matrix, Higher Education programme
and much more – all in-house. No external consultant was used in
developing any HR initiative yet the quality of initiatives were best in class
and working on those greatly enriched my future career. The appraisal
system at NIIT was very detailed and exhaustive linking 360 degree and
competency assessment for development dialogue.
In addition, NIIT’s employee engagement policy ensured that they touched
on every critical aspect of an employee’s career life cycle and engaged with
the family too. Little NIITian care scheme for children of employees, Child
PPF account contribution at birth, Happy Nappy day birthday leaves, Lease
car on wedding day and anniversaries, soft loans for weddings and personal
need, paternity leaves etc. were ahead of their times.
And the relationship with NIIT did not end on separation. The
www.ForeverNIITian.com portal further enhanced the ease of separation and
also kept the employee informed of the happenings at the company.
