SCIENCE, STEM (SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING ENGINEERING & MATHS AND (STEM) MATHS) EMBEDDING TECHNOLOGY IN THE EVERYDAY CURRICULUM In this course participants will consider why and how technology can play a part in early learning. Whilst play is still the most important vehicle to supporting a child’s learning, in an increasingly digital world how adults choose and use technology with young children is an important element in early childhood education. This course will consider how higher order thinking and playful engagement can be fostered through the use of technology. Through completing this course participants will: 2 hours NQS Area: 1 Identify and work through a problem that technology can solve in an early childhood education setting Classify educational apps as instructive, manipulative and/or creative Demonstrate the ability to use basic technology tools and settings This course is hands on and participants are encouraged to bring their own device for use during the course. Some devices will be available for use, but numbers will be limited. Completing Embedding Technology in the Everyday Curriculum will contribute 2 hours of registered PD addressing 2.6.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW www.ku.com.au Page 7
