INSIDE OUTSIDE: NATURE PEDAGOGY AND SUSTAINABILITY IN ACTION
The challenge for educators is to understand the links between their thinking and practices
and the principles of education for sustainability and thus, share a transformative journey
with young children. All participants in early childhood settings can be agents of change.
(Elliott, 2012)
Services play a role in helping children develop an understanding and respect for the natural
environment and the interdependence between people, plants, animals and the land (Early
Years Learning Framework, p. 13). This professional learning day aims to explore the way
in which early childhood educators support young children to learn about environmental
responsibility. Come and investigate the possibilities with our speakers and facilitators.

ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE: BEYOND A DUTY, A PARADIGM SHIFT
We live in a perilous era of global climate change with negative impacts for the health and
wellbeing of many species now recognised. As early childhood educators, we must see
children as central to this issue for the impacts on children are compelling and lifelong.
