ARTS IN EDUCATION CREATIVE STRATEGIES TO GET CHILDREN SINGING, MOVING AND PLAYING THROUGH MUSICAL ACTIVITIES Presented by Jingle Jam Central Sydney Explore strategies to get children using their voice, body and percussion in creative ways. From breathing awareness games to sound exploration, singing games and eventually whole songs. These activities will help children find their voice and explore its many capabilities. Movement and dance, body percussion and percussion instrument arrangement activities for young children, music and mathematics, music and literacy ideas will also be explored. $190 This workshop is suitable for all early childhood professionals. Wednesday 27 June 9.00am – 3.00pm NQS Area 1, 3, 5 TECHNOLOGY AND CREATIVITY: ADDING THE ARTS TO STEM Presented by Laure Hislop – KU Children’s Services Tuesday 16 October 4.30pm – 6.30pm KU Training Room, 129 York Street, Sydney Creativity and the Arts are an essential part of children’s worlds, although often we see this as the opposite of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). This hands- on session focuses on STEAM (adding the Arts to STEM) and looks at how technology can enable children as creators, create an audience and extend learning, play and creativity. By integrating music and creative arts to STEM we will explore how rich integrated learning can be. Participants will: $130 Integrate loose parts play and technology into the program to promote higher order thinking NQS Areas 1, 3 Make 3D cards and identify how intentionality can be added Create a musical instrument and code music Explore theories in STEM and STEAM integration Identify the role of the teacher in STEM and STEAM This workshop is suitable for early childhood professionals working with children aged 3 - 5 years. www.ku.com.au Page 15
