PERSPECTIVES ON INFANCY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY

This exclusive professional learning day will provide delegates with five unique perspectives
on infant development and learning. Each speaker will offer a special insight into their image
of the infant through their particular theoretical, philosophical and cultural perspective.
This will offer delegates the opportunity to consider, compare and reflect on the multiple
perspectives through which infancy can be viewed. The day will end with an opportunity to
delve deeper into these perspectives with a time of small group deliberation followed by a
question and answer panel.

Susan Moylan Coombs – An Aboriginal Perspective on Infancy
Dr Robyn Dolby – An Attachment Based Perspective on Infancy
Sandra Cheeseman – Infancy in the Early Years Learning Framework
Completing Perspectives on Infancy will contribute 5.5 hours of registered PD addressing
1.4.2, 6.3.2 & 6.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards
maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

Engage in a day of fun, hands-on interactive workshops designed to influence the learning
environment for children and educators. The series of workshops on offer across the day
will inspire, provoke and provide participants with practical ideas of engaging with children
across curriculum areas including drama, music, creative arts, technology, gardening, yoga
and cooking.
Participants should come prepared to engage, have fun and be active; they are encouraged
to dress comfortably and bring an apron to wear. Participants will be invited to attend
three workshops across the day. Numbers for these workshops will be capped to allow for
interactive participation, so early registration is advised to secure a place in the desired
sessions.
SHADOW PUPPETS WITH JAN DOWNES
This workshop will aim to introduce participants to different techniques for making and
performing with shadow puppets. The workshop will also support participants to set up and
use a shadow screen.
JINGLE JAM MUSIC WITH VANESSA JOHNSTON
This workshop will provide examples of ways to teach music and movement to children, and
participants will l
