SUSTAINABILITY & NATURE PEDAGOGY
GOING GREEN IN EARLY CHILDHOOD: AN INTRODUCTION TO EVERYDAY
SUSTAINABILITY
Presented by Julie Gaul, KU Manager Sustainability
This workshop is an opportunity to explore the underlying thinking and ethics of actively
engaging with sustainability, personally and professionally. Participants will be supported
to build a collective understanding and ‘vision’ to take back to their service. The collective
‘vision’ will become the foundation for the action plan to shift the culture of the service
community. Sustainability initiatives including green purchasing, reducing plastics and
increasing engagement with natural materials will be investigated. These initiatives can
reflect our commitment to the wellness of each other, the earth and its systems in which we
are an integral part. A hands-on ‘Nature Play’ session will conclude the workshop.
