Tuesday 11 July Extraordinary things can happen when you are at the right place at the right time. Playspaces® put educators at the right place to lead the morning and afternoon transitions. With Playspace® Learning these busiest times of the day become the calmest and the stillest. Participants will be introduced to the Playspace® Learning package. They will see how the Playspace® structure operates, hear discussion with educators and parents and see the impact on children’s learning and play. The course is intended as an introduction only; further training is available for centres wishing to implement Playspaces® in their daily practice. 9:30am – 4:00pm Sydney $220 NQS Area 1, 4, 5 & 6 CIRCLE OF SECURITY (COS) – PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATORS (TWO DAY COURSE) Presented by Dr Robyn Dolby & Eilish Hughes This is a unique opportunity to learn about the Circle of Security. Participants will see and discuss how it translates into early childhood practice by being taken through the Circle of Security Parenting DVD program (2009). The Circle of Security authors have given Dr Robyn Dolby permission to offer this training program to educators. In addition to, and separate to the Parenting DVD, Robyn and Eilish will present video-clips filmed in an early childhood centre so that educators can (1) discover how ‘the Circle’ is also taking place in a group setting and (2) appreciate how they become a secure base for children at childcare. Providing a secure base is intrinsic to children becoming competent learners: when children feel secure in their connection with their educators they are more likely to behave well and enjoy their learning. Moreover connection with protective adults builds up a sense of safety in the children that makes aggression and emotional collapse less likely. 9:30am – 4:30pm $420 (two days) NQS Area 1, 4, 5 & 6 In this course educators will have the opportunity to: See how children use them as relationship support, in order to be happy, make friends and learn well Practice using the Circle of Security graphic as a roadmap for observing and making inferences about children’s relationship needs Reflect on ‘being with’ children’s feelings as the key piece in meeting children’s relationship needs Track their own state of mind to facilitate ‘being with’ children 17 & 31 March with Eilish Hughes Sydney – City 21 April & 12 May with Robyn Dolby Sydney – City 11 & 25 August with Robyn Dolby Sydney – City 7 & 8 September with Robyn Dolby Brisbane 28 & 29 September with Robyn Dolby Port Macquarie 5 & 6 October with Eilish Hughes Newcastle 3 & 17 November with Eilish Hughes Sydney – City www.ku.com.au Page 17
