PEDAGOGY & PRACTICE INFANT & TODDLER PEDAGOGY (TWO PART SERIES) Presented by Melodie Glass, KU Manager Professional Services Drawing on current research on attachment and infant development, this workshops asks participants to move beyond meeting basic human needs to improving the time and experience of infants and toddlers in our care. Through a process of reflection and analysis of daily practice, across this two part series, participants will be asked to challenge their current thinking and image of the child and work towards positioning infants and toddlers at the core of practice. Whilst this course is NESA registered, all early childhood professionals are welcome to attend. Part One: 25 July Part Two: 22 August Part One: 19 September Part Two: 10 October 4:00 – 7:00pm (Two Parts) Sydney – City $180 NQS Area 1, 4 & 5 Completing Infant and Toddler Pedagogy will contribute 5 hours of registered PD addressing 1.1.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW. SUPPORTING EARLY LITERACY Presented by Fran Bastion, KU Professional Learning Consultant Literacy learning as a concept in context with the early learning service is both complex and dynamic. It is strongly influenced by the expectations of the Early Years Learning Framework, cultural values and personal experience. This course will explore theories of literacy development, supporting the recognition of the importance of a literate environment. Such environments enable rich literacy practices that supports children’s emerging competence in diverse literacy fields including communication and visual literacy, critical literacy, numeracy; and multimedia literacy and technology.
