This year we are offering a series of ‘short stop’ webinars for educators and a series specially designed for cooks. SHORT STOP WEBINAR SERI ES: DEVELOPING SUPPORTIVE RELATIONSH IPS WITH CH I LDREN This popular series of webinars is an opportunity to stop and take a brief time out of the day to reflect on some of the fundamentals of your practice. The webinars are suitable for new educators and for experienced teachers wanting a space to reflect and refresh. Note: Participants must book for the whole series $140 PART 1: INTRODUCTION TO RELATIONSHIPS WITH CHILDREN This webinar introduces participants to an approach to building supportive relationships with children that are underpinned by an understanding of child development. We will provide an overview of responsive and proactive approaches that sets the scene for the following webinars. Tuesday 13 August 4:30pm – 5:00pm PART 2: ENVIRONMENTS TO SUPPORT SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL COMPETENCE Part 2 of the series examines the role of the physical environment in promoting positive social and emotional competence. We will consider the way in which the organisation of the space promotes meaningful engagement and participation. Tuesday 27 August 4:30pm – 5:00pm PART 3: THE POWER OF LANGUAGE: THE HIDDEN MESSAGES WE SEND This webinar examines the language we use with children and the impact that it has on children’s behaviour. In particular, we will focus on the power of words and the use of respectful, considered language in our educational settings. Tuesday 10 September 4:30pm – 5:00pm PART 4: WHEN THINGS GO WRONG: SUPPORTING SELF-REGULATION During this final webinar we will discuss the way in which authentic and secure relationships with children help when things go wrong.
