RELATIONSHIPS AND ATTACHMENT GUIDANCE VERSUS PRAISE: THE POWER OF LANGUAGE This two hour workshop provides participants with an overview of guidance theory, and asks them to consider the benefits and effects of praise and acknowledgement in educational settings. Through completing this course participants will: 2 hours NQS Areas: 1, 2, 5 and 6 Compare the differences between praise and acknowledgement Identify praise and acknowledgement phrases Explore the benefits of using acknowledgement phrases Consider how acknowledgement phrases can be used as a strategy towards building inclusive and positive relationships Completing Guidance Versus Praise: An Overview of Guidance Theory will contribute 2 hours of registered PD addressing 4.1.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW. DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION GUIDING CHILDREN’S BEHAVIOUR This workshop addresses the area of behaviour, based on a philosophy of the social and physical environment promoting positive behaviour in children. The approach uses an understanding of child development and includes preventive, responsive and proactive approaches. It supports the implementation of the KU Guiding Children’s Behaviour Practice Guide and can be delivered as either a one day or two-part workshop. Two part series: 3 hours each or Full day: 6 hours NQS Areas: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 Completing Guiding Children’s Behaviour will contribute 5 hours of registered PD addressing 1.3.2, 3.5.2, 4.3.2 and 5.5.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW. www.ku.com.au Page 5
