ARTS IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION ART AROUND 2 hours NQS Areas: 1, 3, 5, 6 Art Around was a pilot study that investigated the enhancement of staff’s personal art knowledge, experience and skill. The study aimed to help professionals translate their new found confidence and knowledge into the provision of a quality visual arts program for young children. The Art Around workshop draws on the outcomes of this study, as well as current research and examples from Reggio Emilia to provide participants with: Ideas and practical examples of resourcing creative spaces, including exploring use of space and the selection of appropriate materials Supporting learning and development in the studio An understanding of children’s many visual languages, including drawing on the notion of the concept of ‘100 Languages’ Beginning to identify their own personal points of creative expression, allowing for participants to begin to identify creative ‘languages’ within their setting and their team Completing Art Around will contribute 2 hours of registered PD addressing 2.1.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW Page 6 Proudly a not for profit organisation
