CHAIR AND CEO’S REPORT
NET PROMOTER SCORE
(PARENTS)
Many of these activities and
achievements speak to KU’s
unwavering commitment to, and
investment in, our staff, and ensuring
our work has the greatest possible
social impact, something that has
been part of the fabric of KU since our
inception in 1895. In 2018, KU
delivered over $48m in programs and
services focussed on improving
outcomes for the most vulnerable
children and families in our
community, often in partnership with
governments and other agencies.
KU’s own investment in social impact
activities exceeded $1.75m.
One of the achievements of which
we are most proud this year, was
the completion of KU’s Innovate
Reconciliation Action Plan; a process
which helped us deliver a 20%
increase in the number of Aboriginal
and Torres Strait Islander children and
families accessing our services.
Following our public position in
support of Marriage Equality in 2017,
which we were very pleased to see
become law in Australia, 2018 saw the
75.9
formation of KU’s Diversity Working
Party, designed to provide greater
insight into and representation of
diversity within KU’s workforce, and
driving a culture of inclusion.
KU’s governance and risk management
frameworks remained a focus of the
Board throughout the year and
included the re-certification of
KU’s Disaster Recovery and Business
Continuity Plan, the implementation
of a Crisis Communication Plan,
and changes to the mechanisms
for reviewing Board and Executive
performance and succession planning.
In summary, 2018 brought us both
challenge and celebration however
overall it was a very positive year. We
would like to acknowledge and thank
our staff, partners and the many
families who accessed our services.
Each of you play an integral role in
ensuring KU continues to achieve our
goals and are at the heart of what
makes KU so unique.

As we look to the year ahead;
continuing to navigate the ever-
changing landscape and our own
organisational growth, we are proud to
be leading an organisation with such
extraordinary strengths, experience
and capabilities, and we are confident
in our ability to leverage and respond
to the opportunities ahead.
