After considerable investigation and a highly successful trial, KU began rolling out Storypark in 2015. Storypark creates a secure private learning community for each child. Teaching staff are able to record and share observations, photos and video using a camera, smartphone or tablet. Most importantly, Storypark allows families and centre staff to work collaboratively to recognise and nurture each child’s unique interests and abilities. It also enables important people in the child’s life, who may not otherwise visit a KU centre, to remain connected and contribute, as one KU parent explained. “We have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to use Storypark. The experience has been particularly rewarding for us, as my husband is currently on deployment with the Australian Army. Having access to Storypark has enabled him to feel connected to Sophie’s experiences and development at KU all the way from Afghanistan! We thoroughly enjoy reading the stories, looking at the photos and sharing comments.” NURTURING THE FUTURE Feedback from KU staff has also been extremely positive, with educators reporting they are building richer relationships with children and their families, and more responsive and relevant educational programs.
