DR MICHAEL CARR-GREGG
Real Wired Child: What
kids are doing online and
how to keep them safe
Dr Michael Carr-Gregg is
one of Australia’s highest
profile adolescent and
child psychologists. He
wrote his PhD at the
University of NSW on
Adolescents with Cancer
and named and founded
CanTeen over 30 years
ago with a group of young
cancer patients. He has
worked as an academic,
researcher and political
lobbyist. He is also the
author of twelve books
and is an Ambassador
KU Annual Conference 2018
for Smiling Mind, Big
Brothers Big Sister, and
sits on the Board of the
Family Peace Foundation
and the National Centre
Against Bullying. He is
a columnist for several
publications and is
the resident parenting
expert on Channel 7’s
Sunrise, psychologist for
channel 9’s Morning Extra
program and the Morning
Show with Neil Mitchell on
Radio 3AW.
This presentation will
cover the nature and
extent of bullying in
schools, what we know
about who bullies a nd
who are the recipients
of this. It will invite a
discussion of the nature
and extent of the
psychological impact of
bullying and what we can
do about bullying in early
childhood settings.
In addition, this
presentation will discuss
what is known about
preschoolers’ use of the
internet, the nature and
extent of the risks and the
key skills, knowledge and
strategies that educators
and parents require to
reduce these risks.
