MONDAY, 12TH MARCH VISITING UERDINGEN
In 1589 there were 185 houses and 700 people living there. They were involved in a 30 years war. After that, they built a latin school and straight streets like Napoleon´s style. It became a town before Krefeld and they are proud of that. In the war protestants and catholics tried to keep their cultures. There was a wall and there were lots of floods. They destroyed the town´s door to enlarge it. In 1804 they were 1600 inhabitants. 20 years later they were more than 2000 people
There were two churches:
Protestant
Catholic
In the industrialization age they built an hospital and a train. They also reformed the castle where the soldiers lived to defend the town. In 1923 Krefeld incorporated Uerdingen.
It was an industrial area , so there were a lot of jobs for people of the town. When they were incorporated to Krefeld there were 14000 inhabitants
