Thrusday 16th of March

On Thursday morning we went to school with the German students. We were in different classes because of the subjects German students had chosen previously.

After two hours of class we went to Uerdingen by tram. There, we met our guide who was a school teacher from Krefeld.

Uerdingen was originally a separate city, in the east of Krefeld. It was established as a city in 1255. Later, in 1929 became part of the city of Krefeld.

There used to be a great wall but nowadays we can just see part of it and there are also some scratches on the floor where the old entrance gate for the town was. They built the village a kilometre far from the river because of the floods.

In 1892 they created a building that was the Town-Hall, the pharmacy and the library. Düsseldorf had the right to install the market in the Major Square.

It is a custom for the people living there to walk once a week beside the river walk.

In 1990 there was a great flood of the river Rhin and turned into ice. As a result people could walk and skate over it. The Rhin is a very important river as it crosses different countries such as, France, Sweden, Germany and Holland.

After having some free time to visit the main streets, we went to practise bouncy balls all together. At first it was a little bit difficult but then we had great fun. We all laughed a lot, including our teachers! We had never tried it before.
