KPUM Q&A 2017 BPTC | Page 17

How do I apply? (BCAT) What is BCAT? BCAT is a multiple choice computer based test which assesses applicant’s critical thinking and reasoning. When is the time take it? Preferably right after you have applied for the BPTC, just in case you need to retake the test again and submit the results (Date is TBC by BarSAS). In previous years the BCAT has been fully booked in the run up to the closing date. If no slots are available, you will not be able to take the test and will not be admitted to the BPTC even if you meet all the other requirements. What is the registration process? Upon registering for the BCAT, they will ask for your BPTC reference number. To get this you have to start your application on BarSAS (It is for free up till you are ready to submit your BPTC application). After entering your name, gender, date of birth and email address the website will generate an 8 figure BPTC application reference number. E.g. 16001001. Record the number and register for the BCAT. Go to this website to register for the BCAT: http://www.pearsonvue.com/bsb/. Where is the venue to take it? Use the Pearson VUE website to locate your nearest test centre: https://www3.pearsonvue.com/testtaker/registration/SelectTestCenterProximity/BSB/310187. Not every Pearson VUE test centre offers the BCAT. Only “Pearson Professional Centers” and “Pearson VUE Authorized Test Center Selects” run the BCAT Test. What is the fee for the test? The BCAT costs £150 if taken in UK and paid online upon registration.
