that he went on to win the
competition but it was good
experience.
I also learnt that however
much practice you put
in sometimes the wind
doesn’t play ball. The wind
was all over the place in
our heat and even Javier
only landed one trick but
it was better than mine, so
he went through. The wind
then settled for the best
part of the rest of the day
and it was great watching
all the older ones doing
double half cabs and blind
judge 5s.
The wind died just as
they were trying to run the
semis of the 14-15 and
16-19 year olds and sadly
there wasn’t any wind the
other days, so they ended
up having four winners in
each and sharing the prize
money. The board across
couldn’t go ahead in no
wind so instead they did a
paddle board fun race. You
had to go in teams of two
(I went with Kimo) and one
person paddled whilst the
other one jumped over the
boarder cross obstacles.
We finished 4th overall
which was good!
