Epic Photography Capturing those epic moments... boogie loop. This time going even bigger and stomping the landing clean. It was low tide at this point in the day making it very shallow on the inside, knee deep at the most. After a couple of tack up’s following Ruben’s last trick he came in for a massive sent S-bend pass in the shallows. He came in so hot to the landing and just tucked the tip of his board into the water resulting in a crash that we thought would have left him in a chair. After he caught the nose of his board in the water he flipped forward straight to his face and proceeded to continue to flip until his leash finally gave way and the kite flew away. Everyone on the beach was in awe. Water support and several friends ran to assist Ruben in the water. Ruben appeared to be fine - more upset and angry then anything. It’s safe to say Ruben is built like a brick house, walking away from these crashes with only a bone dislocated in his hand. Like the legend he is, Aaron Hadlow wowed the crowd in the final. His mixture of massive loops, high jumps and technical massive handlepasses led him to his victory. You can always count on Aaron to take it above and beyond. Within the last two minutes of the final heat which he had already put down some of the best tricks, he continued to push the limits. Aaron came into the shallows and launched a massive sent S-bend pass, we thought that was it for the trick but he went for a second pass while still way up there. Unfortunately he just missed the bar grabbing the chicken loop but still rode away from it. For the trick that had everyone’s attention, Aaron pulled multiple times through the event - the mega loop KGB. The risks of this trick are unbelievably high. You start with a standard mega loop back roll but then halfway through the trick you unhook and do a backside 360 pass. If anything goes wrong you’re falling from very high up, and moving forwards stupidly fast with little (if any) control of your kite. Only Aaron had the balls to pull this trick out and that’s why he’s the x5 world champion and the current Red Bull King of the Air champ! Aaron had a smile on from ear to ear on the podium. After a couple quick photos for the media we all gave him a big congrats hug and goodbye. He was rushing off to the airport for a flight he was about to miss. He was off to Tarifa to continue training for the first stop of the PKRA! What a legend. By Sam Medysky Epic Photography Capturing those epic moments...
