back, surrounded by family and friends, I knew they would be the key to my recovery. I spent most of my time in the gym, twice a day, everyday. I had visited the fracture clinic a couple of times, and the doctors were happy with my progress, the bones had knitted back together nicely and it was a matter of time before it was strong enough to kite again, the problem was, the doctors matter of time, was different to mine. They were still adamant no matter how hard I trained, how much I’d already progressed, it was going to be at least 8 months before I could step back onto a board. At this stage, the competition year was out of the window, if it did take 8 months, I would miss the whole season, which was a real downer, but I kept my spirits high, and was not going to be beaten. Goal two was achieved on the 18th of February, and was the toughest one yet, and took a lot of people by surprise, some people thought I was silly but I felt ready. I had been to my fracture clinic appointment the day before, I felt strong, I had now been walking for at least three weeks, un-aided with very little to no pain at all. So there I found myself, at Hawkers Cove. It had probably been the longest period of my life without a kite in the sky, and there I was, less than two months after a severe break, I was going for my first kite. I took a surfboard, and happily rode around for at least an hour, before coming in, more due to the cold than anything. So there it was, two of the main goals I had overcome, and this one definitely a lot sooner than I had even expected, let alone the doctors, my family and my friends. Months went on, and I was still training, kiting very little, as although I felt strong and confident, I didn’t want to push my luck and have my injury take a turn for the worse. I was occupying my time with photography/ videography and finding work. All of which were going really well.
