unattended payment • More multimedia-enabled kiosks with compelling digital and branded content, particularly in hospitality, entertainment and high street environments. • Greater interactivity including touch screens, Internet connectivity and voice activation, bringing new types of personalisation and information services • Wider acceptance for contactless/NFC and mobile payments – especially in traditionally low value, high volume applications like parking, ticketing and transit, but also in higher value applications, such as petro following the increase in contactless value limits in September 2015. • An increase in cross platform, open loop payment stations, for example, in metro locations for one stop purchasing of travel, entertainment, attractions and accommodation • Tightening of security and more stringent policing of mandates and compliance. • Cloud-connected services – not just customer facing, but also providing merchants with real-time transaction monitoring, customisation and automated field management and maintenance. To enable this, kiosk providers will need payment devices, such as Verifone’s UX Solutions. The UX portfolio consists of modular components that offer greater flexibility, broader integration, easier use and longer field life. In terms of payment, the devices also provide robust security, including P2PE-readiness. In combination with Verifone’s managed payment service retailers can deploy a complete end-to-end card acceptance solution easily and also support the rollout of new services and content across unattended estates. With more demand and investment in kiosks, we can expect to see rapid transformation of kiosk design and applications. It means being able to pay any way they choose. Increasingly, that means kiosks must support all payment options, not just EMV debit and credit cards, but also contactless and mobile payments. European consumers are using contactless in over 40 countries. They carry over 131million Visa contactless cards and will make over 10 billion European contactless transactions this year. In fact, by 2019, 10 per cent of transactions in Europe will be contactless. Increasingly, contactless transactions will be performed via mobile.
