KWETB New Appointments

Tony Ó Murchú - Príomhoide

Gaelcholáiste na Mara, Arklow

Originally from Celbridge Co. Kildare Tony and his wife Claire have recently moved to Co. Wexford. Educated exclusively through Irish, firstly in Scoil Uí Dhálaigh Leixlip Co. Kildare and then in Coláiste Chillian, Clondalkin, Co. Dublin, Tony studied Nua-Ghaeilge, Sociology and Geography at NUI Maynooth and went on to complete his H.Dip. in Education through Irish in NUI Galway. Two years ago he completed the Tóraíocht course in Educational Leadership in NUI Maynooth.

We wish to congratulate Rory O’ Toole on his appointment to the role of Director of Schools since the 1st September 2016. Rory was in the role of Acting Education Officer prior to that and was also Principal of Scoil Chonglais, Baltinglass. Rory has past experience in both Kildare VEC and Wicklow VEC and will still be regarded by some as a Confey College man!

Rory has a strong vision for the role and is looking forward to developing the Directorship to support schools and the wider ETB. As an educationalist, Rory is particularly interested in strong school systems, innovative education practices, collaborative working across schools and quality student experience during school life.

Tony is passionate about Irish language and culture, Gaelic games, sport in general and of course, family and friends. His vision for Gaelcholáiste na Mara is to build on what is already a thriving school community, to provide a rich, holistic, inclusive education through Irish, where academic performance and extra-curricular activity are at the heart of the schools ethos. Gaelcholáiste na Mara will be a place where students come to a positive close knit educational environment and where they enjoy their secondary school years while striving to reach their potential. Tony is looking forward to working with the dedidacated and hardworking management team at KWETB.
