BTEI Introduction to Hairdressing in Wicklow Town

The Wicklow Town BTEI (Back to Education Initiative) planning process under goals identified in the National Further Education and Training Strategy 2014-2019, lead to the introduction of a new Introduction to Hairdressing Course.

The course was run in partnership with local business R&R Hairdressing Salon, and was advertised through regular channels, using social media, and Fetchcourses.ie.

Starting in April 2016, with 12 learners, the course included programmes leading to the following QQI awards:

Hair Dressing Basin Skills (3N0533)

Blow Drying Hair (3N0500)

Computer Applications (4N1112)

Communications (4N0689).

Practical elements were delivered in the hairdressing salon, and core competences were delivered in a classroom setting in Wicklow FETC. Eight Learners have successfully achieved accreditation through the programme.

A second hairdressing programme commenced in September 2016, with a third is due to commence in spring 2017.
