Putting out the fire!!!!

Fire Warden Training is part of KWETB’s In-house Health & Safety Training Programme which is being rolled out to selected staff in all of our schools and centres. It is being delivered by Emma Radford in Corporate Services who is a qualified Fire Warden Trainer. This Fire Warden Training Course has been designed to meet the requirements of both the 1981 Fire Services Act and Regulation 9 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005. On completion of the course, participants will be able to;

* List their duties as fire wardens

* Describe the chemistry of fire

* Identify fire hazards in the workplace

* Assist in the management of evacuation

procedures and drills

* Select and use the appropriate fire-fighting equipment to deal with an

undeveloped fire

Following the training, staff will be competent to assist management in drawing up personalised evacuation procedures for their school or centre and also assist management in the induction of staff in matters of fire safety. It has been received really well by staff so far and many have found it very enjoyable and beneficial for home safety tips too!

Other In-house training available to KWETB staff include Evac+Chair Training, Manual Handling Training and also VDU Assessments.
