Kildare and Wicklow ETB Newsletter Issue 9 Inclusion | Página 24

Our vision for Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board is one which sees us ‘nurturing a learning community, enriching educational experience, empowering the pursuit of excellence whilst leading a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation in the Irish education and training system.’ Underpinning this vision we value Respect, Inclusion, Learner-focus, Professionalism, Dynamism, Integrity and Support.

We have chosen the value of Inclusion to be our theme for this edition of our newsletter as we feel that it is evidenced very clearly in both our daily work and also in the highlights of our organisation which are celebrated in this edition.

For KWETB, inclusion is a value that is meaningful for us as an organisation. The long tradition established by the Vocational Education Committees and continued and enhanced by the Education and Training Boards is one in which all members of the community are actively included in the organisation.

There are examples of the inclusion of diverse members of our ETB community throughout this newsletter and it is very easy to illustrate that inclusion. What is equally important, but not perhaps as easy to see, is the fact that the value of inclusion underpins not just our programmes and services but also the way in which we plan and evaluate our provision. Inclusion is very much an active value for Kildare and Wicklow ETB. It is what we say and what we do but also how we think.

Inclusion in Kildare and Wicklow ETB is best described by the inventor and founding father of the United States of America, Benjamin Franklin, who said;

‘Tell me and I’ll forget. Teach me and I’ll remember. Involve me and I’ll learn.’
