Programme and Learner Support System (PLSS)

Staff across all programmes in KWETB’s Further Education and Training Service are using the new Programme and Learner Support System (PLSS). This web based IT system, developed by SOLAS in partnership with ETBI and other Stakeholders contains the following elements:

- National Programme Database (NPD)

- National Course Calendar Scheduling System (NCC)

- Learner Database

The National Programme Database and Course Calendar contains a full listing of all accredited and unaccredited courses scheduled to run throughout FET. The Department of Social Protection can view courses and refer learners to them. A new Further Education and Training Course Hub (FETCH) website will be launched shortly and will be available to the public.

A Working Group consisting of Catherine Greene and Angela Doherty (Adult Guidance), Gabriel Allen (PLC), Anne McGrath (VTOS), Christine Wray (BTEI), Mary Faughnan (ABE), Angela Glynn (YouthReach) and the PLSS Support Team, has been established to review how referrals will be managed using the system.

The PLSS is a priority in both the Further Education and Training Strategy 2014-2019 and Pathways to Work 2016-2020.

Over 100 staff across KWETB have been trained and supported in the use of PLSS. The internal team responsible for the roll out and support is Catherine Byrne, Mary Mooty and Bernie Fitzgerald.
