The 2017 KWETB Orienteering Schools Championships were held on May 3rd in glorious sunshine at Avondale House, Rathdrum. Co. Wicklow. This initiative and partnership with the schools was introduced by Paul Scott and his team at the OEC.

This event follows on from the orienteering in service day for KWETB PE Teachers which was facilitated by Baltinglass Outdoor Education and Training Centre on March 1st, the purpose of which was to provide schools with the skills and resources to do some Outdoor Education on the school grounds or in their local area. This initiative is supported by the KWETB Senior Management Team.

The following schools from KWETB took part:

Gaelcholáiste Na Mara, Glenart College, Coláiste Chill Mhantáin, Blessington Community College, Coláiste Bhríde, Coláiste Lorcáin, Curragh Post Primary, and Confey College.

A total of 148 second year students took part in the event.

The fastest three boys on the day were: David Akindipe, Curragh Post Primary; Cian Marah, Curragh Post Primary; Mark Whelan, Coláiste Chill Mhantáin.

The fastest three girls on the day were: Roisin Kennedy, Colaiste Bhride Carnew; Caitroina Doyle, Coláiste Bhríde, Carnew; Peig Corrigan, Coláiste Lorcáin, Castledermot.
