St. Kevin’s Community College had great reason to be proud of 6th year Leaving Certificate Applied student Joanne Grattan who won a place on the 2017 trip to Euroscola in Strasbourg, France. Joanne was one of only 24 Leaving Certificate Applied students chosen from all over Ireland to attend this prestigious event. Joanne represented St. Kevin’s and Ireland at the event on the 24th -27th of January 2017.

At Euroscola, Joanne had the opportunity to spend a day in the shoes of an MEP, learning about the workings of the European Institutions from the inside, discussing democracy and fundamental rights with other teenagers from all over the EU and expressing her personal opinions on Europe in the chamber of the European Parliament. Joanne was thrilled to take part in the event.

She returns to St Kevin’s to complete her LCA Programme and we wish her and her classmates all the best in their studies.

During January the 5A class organised Positive Mental Health Week in St. Conleth's CC. There were information displays and competitions for all students and staff to take part in. Positive Mental Health week was run in conjunction with the General Education task for Leaving Certificate Applied and the Amber flag initiative, which the 5A class are working towards this year.

The winning posters and poetry are on display on the school's Positive Mental Health notice board, together with the Relaxation garden designs by the Horticulture class and the 'Good Mood Food' recipes designed by the Hotel, Tourism and Catering class.
