“I am delighted to have been appointed as Director of Further Education and Training (FET) in Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board. I would like to thank you for the very warm welcome and your support to date; it has been a busy and exciting few months and I feel privileged to have joined an organisation that is learner-centred, innovative and progressive.
Prior to joining KWETB, I worked in SOLAS and my most recent role was in the Further Education and Training Strategy and Evaluation Unit. I hope to bring the knowledge I gained in this position and throughout my career to date to my new role in KWETB.
I am passionate about providing the highest quality learning experience for all those in Kildare and Wicklow who engage with our further education and training provision. I believe in the value of our services and the impact they have on our learners, our communities and employers in our region and further afield. Recently, we submitted our integrated FET Services Plan for 2017 to SOLAS; our plan included many testimonials from learners across our full-time and part-time programmes and are a testament to the work of our FET staff in guiding and supporting our learners to reach their potential.
Further education and training is a vital component in the delivery of lifelong learning in Ireland; our continued focus on education and skills development from levels 1-6 on the NFQ will ensure that we provide the right opportunities to enable those who avail of our services to grow and progress.
Our success will be dependent on our collaborations with many stakeholders and a range of government departments and agencies; we will continue to work together so that we can offer the very best services benefiting our learners, society and our economy. I acknowledge the challenges ahead; we will agree our strategy together and we will prioritise and achieve our objectives. I have every confidence in the team in KWETB and am looking forward to working with you all.”
