What’s On In need of entertainment these school holidays? Central Coast Council run and support school holiday events across the Coast. From the North to the South, Central Coast Council’s popular School Holiday Program is back with new activities for all ages. All of our school holiday activities are in one easy to find, easy to read and easy to book program. The September/ October program lists a combination of free and paid events. Start planning how you will keep the family entertained these holidays. What’s On at our Leisure Centres What’s On Sustainability There are plenty of activities and pool entertainment at our Leisure Centres across the Coast these school holidays. From pool inflatables, waterslides and jumping castle fun through to basketball clinics, a Pool Lifeguard Course and intensive learn to swim lessons. You can also join up to the Active Kids Sports Program and enjoy two hours of fun indoor games and activities including basketball, soccer, volleyball and rock climbing. Get your kids active and part of Council’s FiT for Life community! Learn about sustainability with our free Green Living Workshops and Rock Pool Rambles ecological discovery talks. Get your hands dirty and make a seed bomb with clay and compost, create your own terrarium, build a bee or insect hotel, learn how to grow your own food and try your hand at making non-toxic body care products. You can also join us and the Ocean and Coastal Care Initiative guides as we explore and discover our coastline – what creatures will you find in our local rock pools? What’s On at the Gallery Gosford Regional Gallery and Edogawa Commemorative Garden is a peaceful place where you can tap into your talents and get creative – Mum and da d can grab a coffee at the Café too! Break free of the drawing books and learn how to draw YOUR OWN cartoon characters, learn tips and tricks on how to get a better portrait drawing or how to paint on silk, or even create a beautiful wall hanging using simple loom weaving techniques. We will also be celebrating our special relationship with our sister city – Edogawa City in Japan. Try your hand at Origami, join us for Kamishibai – a traditional form of Japanese storytelling, learn Taiko Drumming, the secrets to Bonsai, traditional Japanese calligraphy plus much more! What’s On at The Entrance Bring the kids down to The Entrance these school holidays for a range of fun free activities including special performances by Hoot and Hootabelle – our favourite owl-pals from the hit kids TV show, Giggle and Hoot. There will also be a science show and workshop, a Magic show and roving magician, daily pelican feeding from 3.30pm and amusement rides. What’s On across our Libraries Make the most of Central Coast’s libraries these school holidays with a full program of free events for all ages. The program kicks off with a Where’s Wally Scavenger Hunt at all our library branches commencing on Tuesday, 2 October and running across the holiday period. Enjoy Skateboard Deck Art, Funky Slime Craft, Lego and other arts and craft activities. Come along to a poetry workshop with local author Meg Gatland-Veness, and if you are into table top war games, join us for Red Orc-tober, Star Wars or Saga of Heroes. What’s On for our Youth Our Youth Services team have developed a dynamic program of activities across technology, professional skills development, sports and creative workshops. YOUTHfest Umina kicks off the school holidays with a day of sport, art and other activities. There are also workshops on animation, film editing, vocal master class, song and copy writing, and a special ‘Employ Me’ information day offering top tips on how to dress for success and interview to impress and an inclusive bouldering climbing activity for all abilities.
