Kiddies Kitchen (Christmas edition) | Page 3

Hello there, Christmas is just around the corner but it is not too late to start making plans as to what you will bake and cook for the festivities. Christmas shopping, with all the hustle and bustle, can be very exciting but can also be stressful at times. Sometimes it is just the best to let the things flow around you, stopping for a moment to soak in the atmosphere. Let us take some of the stress out of your preparations and help you with some delicious and mouthwatering ideas. Remember when you were a little kid and everything was just so magical around this time of the year? You couldn’t wait and were so exciting to open up the presents but it was something more. The waiting and anticipating were sometimes more special and fun than the actual gifts. Watching your mother or grandmother bake, smelling the cinnamon and mulled wine in the air, going out and throwing a few snowballs , building a snowman it was all just so much fun were as integral to the Christmas feeling as the Christmas tree and turkey feast. Christmas is as much about the little things and families making their own traditions as it is about the bigger, more obvious things. Now it is time to slow down and try to create a peaceful and festive atmosphere around your little ones. So now is the perfect opportunity to start your own tradition of baking cookies together or getting the kiddies help with the festive preparations in the kitchen and can become a firm family favourite. We have brought you some old-time favourites but with twists that we hope you will feel both reassuringly familiar and novel at the same time. While it is cold outside, you can warm yourselves up with a nice and spicy (non-alcoholic!) hot toddy or a make a delicious peppermint hot chocolate to help Santa on his journey. Enjoy!
