Mincemeat parcels If you have homemade mincemeat or have a jar of it and you’re bored with the traditional mince pies, you must try these „parcels“: a real sweet present for the kids! Ingredients for 8: 350 g mincemeat approx. 175 g filo pastry or 8 sheets 80 g melted butter 1. Preheat the oven to 180 C. Line a baking tray with baking paper. 2. Spread out one sheet of filo pastry on a board. Cover the rest of the sheets with a wet kitchen towel until needed. Brush the upper side of another sheet of the filo pastry with melted butter and place it on the first sheet. Cut into 15 cm squares. Each parcel will contain 4 sheets. Place one square in front of you (it will contain two sheets) and place another two sheets square over it at right angles to make a cross. 3. Spoon some mincemeat filling in the centre of the cross. Fold up the sides of the filo and fix it with a string. 4. Repeat the process with the rest of the sheets. 5. Place the parcels on the baking tray and finely brush the top with melted butter. 6. Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden and crispy. 7. Remove the string before serving. 8. Sprinkle with some icing sugar and replace the string with a decorative Christmas one.
