David V. Singer 4 Nominating Committee Recommended Candidate Statement of Focus Candidate Bio My interest in serving on the board reflects my view that an effective KICA board is important to Kiawah’s future, a belief that I have the experience and qualifications to be an effective board member, and a schedule that will allow me to serve. An important area of focus for me will be to work with the other board members to ensure that we continue to strike an appropriate balance as KICA executes its role in maintaining the great Kiawah experience and property values. To be an effective organization, KICA must strike a balance between short- and long-term decisions, costs and benefits, and the competing needs of its various constituencies, which requires an effective board, working together with KICA management. My banking and financial experience position me to effectively consider the short- and long-term costs and benefits of major investment decisions. My role as a CEO trained me to consider how major decisions will impact different stakeholders, many with differing agendas, and to find ways to balance decisions to gain alignment. My significant board experience has taught me to work with others to respectfully and fully consider differing viewpoints, then together make decisions that are in the best interest of the organization. KICA must serve all property owners, which is a very complex job given the diversity within our community of owners. The Kiawah community of property owners includes people at different ages and stages of life, as well as Kiawah Partners and Kiawah Island Golf Resort. KICA members include residents and non-residents, condo owners and homeowners, those who rent to visitors and those who do not. Some of us are members of the Kiawah Island Club or Governors Club, and some of us are not. As a result of this diversity, there are differing expectations and goals among various KICA members for their Kiawah investment, and KICA must consider and balance these differences to properly execute its role. • Family: Barbara (Wife), Brian and Andrew (Sons) • History of Kiawah Property Ownership: Purchased 584 Whimbrel, 2003, and 18 Falcon Point, 2014.
