Statement of Focus
Having volunteered on the KICA
Finance Committee for the
past six years, I understand the
association’s finances. As part of
an effort to support the island we
love so much, I hope to be able to
continue to work on improving
and strengthening the financial position of KICA for the future.
Also, since my family and I extensively use the many facilities
of KICA, including the (Sandcastle) community center and
bicycle paths, I will work to strengthen and enhance those
facilities while conserving the beautiful natural environment
we have been gifted with.

Additional Comments
As a resident of Kiawah for over 12 years, I understand the changes
taking place on the island. With the changes in ownership of the
development partners, the interests of KICA need to be more
actively protected to limit the association’s financial liabilities
and to protect the environment.
I hope to use my background in the asset management industry
to help improve the returns on our assets without significantly
increasing the risks.

Statement of Focus
Communication - Recent
controversies in the community
have impressed upon me
the importance of providing
even more opportunities for
respectful discussion and
dialogue on Kiawah. I would
like to work to improve and
increase both education on community issues, and the avenues
available to property owners to initiate and participate in
discussion of those issues.
Strategic Planning - In my activities on Kiawah, I have worked
with a variety of property owners, representing numerous
constituencies on the island, including representatives of the
island’s private entities. I appreciate the talent present on the
island, and I believe it is important to make every effort to
maximize the involvement of property owners in addressing the
community’s current needs, as well as planning for its future. I
would like to continue to work on strategic planning and explore
more options for engaging the community in this effort.
Property Owner Support - I was reminded of the importance
of community during the recent flooding. CERT (Community
Emergency Response Team) training emphasizes focusing on
neighbors during an emergency, so our neighborhood CERT
members organized a way to check in on neighbors, both onand off-island, to assess needs, convey information and provide
assistance as necessary. Communication and planning are vital
to maintaining life and property. Just as KICA has become
proactive in notifying property owners of problematic road
situations on and off the island, I would like to think creatively
