13 Year in Review - The Big Picture New Poolside Services at the Sandcastle Full Service Bar, Fresh Seafood Sales Highlight New Offerings in 2014 Since it opened in 2007, the Castle Grille has been a popular spot for poolside snacks and refreshments at the Sandcastle. Over the years, Sandcastle staff have continued to seek opportunities to enhance your experience, such as expanding menu items and creating additional outdoor seating. In 2014, the Grille and surrounding poolside area continued to improve with several substantial service upgrades. Member feedback was positive, and Castle Grille revenue was up 37% from 2013. The Sandbar The Sandbar, which opened in May 2014, is a full-service bar serving specialty cocktails, frozen drinks, beer, wine and nonalcoholic beverages. Open daily during the Sandcastle’s summer season (Memorial Day – Labor Day), the bar features a 55-inch HD TV and a covered seating area. During the 2014 summer season, the Sandbar hosted several events, including a trivia night and a viewing for the World Cup. Fresh, Local Seafood Sales Starting in May 2014, Cherry Point Seafood Company out of Wadmalaw Island began selling fresh, locally caught seafood to members at the Sandcastle during the summer season. Seafood options varied depending on that week’s catch, and included shrimp, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Tuna and Swordfish. Property owners were able to place orders in advance, or order and pickup in person directly from the seafood truck. The Castle Grille also used Cherry Point’s local seafood in many of its menu offerings during 2014. Castle Grille Improvements In 2014, the Castle Grille debuted an expanded menu featuring new and improved items such as fresh seafood, a variety of salads and sandwiches, and even occasional specials such as hand-rolled sushi. The Grille also expanded its service and coverage area, creating a more personal and attentive member-experience.
