Kiawah Cares:
Veterans Helping
Veterans
Reintegrating into civilian life can be a challenge for returning
military personnel. Learn how you can support transitioning
veterans on the Sea Islands, with the Vantage Point Foundation.
This Kiawah Cares Partner provides comprehensive transitional
support for local post-9/11 veterans of all branches of the
military. Vets mentoring vets is a key component for success,
but there are opportunities with the Vantage Point Foundation
for civilians as well, such as a Spring 2017 veterans workshop
being held at Camp St. Christopher on Seabrook Island. Join
Kiawah Cares and the Vantage Point Foundation for cocktails
on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 4 p.m. at the Sandcastle to learn
about this and other opportunities to mentor and support
transitioning veterans in our area.
Attendees will learn about the organization’s mission, approach
and successes, and meet those guiding the initiative, including
• Kim Bradley, combat casualty nurse with the Navy
Marine Corps Relief Society and board member of
the Vantage Point Foundation. She has over 10 years’
experience working with post-9/11 wounded, injured
and ill Marines, sailors and their families. Kim has
been married to a Marine for 27 years, and she serves
on the advisory board for Focus Marines Foundation.
• Staci Pelland, Air Force veteran and board member of the
Vantage Point Foundation. Staci works at the Charleston
Naval Weapons Station as the SSC Atlantic Veteran
Workforce Integration Office program manager with
SPAWAR.
• Maj. Mark Holyfield, USMC and board member of the
Vantage Point Foundation. Mark is an infantry officer and
a district injured support coordinator with the Marine
Corps. He has spent the last two years supporting post9/11 Marine veterans and Navy Corpsmen throughout the
Carolinas and northeast Georgia. He is leaving active duty
in September in order to work full-time for the Vantage
Point Foundation.
• Lt. Col. Dan Bradley, (retired), USMC board member
of the Vantage Point Foundation. Dan began his career as
an enlisted Marine and retired after 26 years as a logistics
officer. He now works as a program manager at Centurum
and serves as a team leader for Focus Marines Foundation.
