The Official Publication of the Kiawah Island Community Association October 2018 D I G E S T MEMBER ENGAGEMENT K Join the Upcoming Community Conversation Sessions Anywhere ICA held the first of three Community Conversation Sessions on Aug. 20, and members opened up about a variety of topics relating to our Kiawah community. These engagement sessions provide an opportunity for the KICA board to learn property owners’ perceptions of the current and future direction of the community, which will help guide the association’s strategic planning. The next two community conversations are on Attend a session: Monday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. and Thursday, Nov. 15 at Oct. 8 - 6 p.m. 9 a.m. at The Sandcastle Nov. 15 - 9 a.m. ballroom. During these sessions, David McNair of the McNair Group facilitates discussion by using interactive smartphone polling. When David asks for a topic you’re interested in discussing or a word to describe how you feel about a topic, your response will be anonymously displayed on screen. The results are compiled as you watch. This provides a unique opportunity for KICA’s board to get to hear from a wider range of members than in a typical meeting where few are likely to speak up. It’s also fun! We encourage you to participate in person, but if you are not on-island, you can join the conversation through a livestream of the meeting and smartphone polling. Instructions for remote participation will be available at kica.us and will be provided in KICA’s weekly email to members. This word cloud depicts feedback from the Aug. 20 engagement session. Reservations are not required to attend. After these meetings conclude, The McNair Group will analyze feedback and provide a follow-up survey for all members. Opportunities for your participation will continue and KICA’s board looks forward to hearing your voice.
