KICA Staff Efforts Accelerate TS Hermine Recovery
Tropical Storm Hermine brought heavy rains and strong winds
to Kiawah in early September. The storm moved one without
significant, widespread damage, but it did litter the island with
leaves, limbs, palm fronds and other debris.
In the hours and days following, KICA staff worked tirelessly
to clean up the island and bring it back to the state it was
prior to the storm. Their efforts did not go unnoticed, as KICA
member Charlie Larsen said in an email to the association,
"A note to say what an incredible job KICA did in cleaning

up the mess after Hermine. I was amazed that by Sunday
everything looked great!"
In an email to staff, KICA COO Jimmy Bailey also
commended their work recovering the island. "Every day I
witness extraordinary commitment by individuals companywide," said Bailey. "However, when we're faced with an adverse
situation such as TS Hermine (and the giant clean up that
followed), my pride swells when I see the above and beyond
effort displayed by so many."
