8 May 2016 Introducing the Kiawah Cares Volunteer of the Year! Donna and her husband Sam Bromage focus their volunteer efforts on organizations that help improve the lives of at-risk women and children. They also share a passion for helping soldiers and their families, and advocating for advances in research and patient care for breast cancer, prostate cancer and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Donna is passionate about Kiawah Cares. "Kiawah Cares has been extremely helpful in bringing awareness of the needs of the Sea Island communities to those of us who are blessed to call Kiawah home. I enjoy doing creative projects and helping others bring out their creativity so the Kiawah Cares Made With Love effort really fits. My husband and I have been so blessed, and we want to be blessings to others, and can be -with the help of Kiawah Cares!" Kiawah Cares is thrilled to announce its very first Volunteer of the Year, Donna Porritt. As one of Kiawah Cares' most dedicated volunteers, Donna has been active in a number of programs over the years and recently worked with us to create the Made With Love program. Donna spent 17 years in a variety of Cigna's businesses, ending her career as VP of Corporate Marketing. After leaving Cigna, Donna joined a team of entrepreneurs who created a variety of health care companies, including Value Health, Evolution Benefits and Women's Health USA. Currently, Donna does pro bono work mainly with nonprofits, focusing on advocacy and marketing. One of Donna and Sam's incredible gifts to Kiawah Cares is the involvement of their grandchildren, who for several years have used gift money to purchase coats, gloves and hats for Sea Island children in need. Their grandchildren are taught "to love other people, especially those who don't have the things they do, or are not as blessed as they are. We believe our greatest legacy is for our grandkids to express their faith in action and to practice 'service above self.'" Thank you, Donna, for your incredible dedication to improving the world around you.
